About the Role

This position reports to Senior Manager- Group Internal Audit (GIA)  and the main purpose of the position is to deliver high quality internal audit engagements from start to finish (preplanning to wrap up) at any and all locations across the DP World Group. To apply proficient risk and control knowledge to all scenarios encountered and identify all significant potential issues by analysing operations, reviewing compliance, recommending controls and auditing safeguards. To communicate audit findings and draft audit reports to GIA and business management and to our Audit Committee that inspire constructive change through the recommendations; and lead other diverse internal projects which enhance GIA’s critical success factors including, but not limited to: lean auditing, data analytics for continuous auditing, continuous improvement.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Work with Internal Audit (IA) team or independently on audits of DP World business units, regional offices or head office departments across the DP World Group with a core focus on financial & operational processes and controls;
  • Supervise and/or execute audits from start to finish, where directed by the IA Managers or the Chief Internal Auditor (“CIA”), delivering high impact audit reviews addressing DP World risks;
  • Produce high quality draft reports on findings and recommendations from audits to ensure any potential concerns are addressed in an effective and timely manner; and ultimately reported to the DP World Audit Committee as mandated;
  • Plan and document all audits in line with GIA audit procedures to ensure delivery of risk-based audits;
  • Continually strive to draft and develop Audit Work programmes for effective and comprehensive audits; Keep abreast of changes in legal and regulatory environment which may impact our audit work and advise IA Managers/CIA if Audit Work Programmes require revision or update;
  • Present audit conclusions to business unit management as necessary; this may be in a Boardroom through PowerPoint presentations to managers or directors;
  • Research and identify examples of organisational best practices in and outside the group; flag these to the GIA team for sharing across borders; Encourage the understanding of Group Policies (existing and amended) at sites visited;
  • Manage core aspects of our internal GIA Quality and Assurance Improvement Program to help improve our quality, effectiveness and efficiency in our audits;
  • Manage DP World MICS (Minimum Internal Controls Business Unit Self-Certification) annual global reporting process; preparing reporting on findings to the CIA as required;
  • Where required supervise more junior team members during audits or other field projects.  Provide on the job training as required;
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working, ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in ALL activities; Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in line with DP World values; Understand and follow DP World Code of Conduct and Ethic policies
  • Perform and assist on other related duties e.g. Fraud investigations, special projects as required;
Experience & Qualification

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance-related field
  • Certified Public Accountant qualification or equivalent i.e. ACA/MBA
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)  designation

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ strong experience in auditing
  • Fully aware of all the IPPF standard, internal control concepts, COSO, Risk Management best practices
  • Identify technical accounting issues in Financial Reporting under IFRS
  • Successfully juggle multiple projects at the same time; delivering quality results by deadlines and are comfortable working with all sorts of styles of team members;
  • Are experienced in using data analytics in the audit work and understand the challenges and benefits these tools can provide (E.g. ACL/Qlikview).

 

You might also have:

  • Experience in the marine terminal industry;
  • Experience and interest in auditing corporate sustainability;
  • ‘Big 4’ experience - desirable

DP WORLD IMPERSONATED IN A RECRUITING SCAM

Dubai, UAE :DP World, Ltd. (DP World) alerts job applicants and the public about a fraudulent scheme in which DP World has been impersonated.

The scammers fraudulently:
  • Impersonate DP World;
  • Impersonate DP World employees;
  • Conduct “job interviews” via text message, telephone, e-mail, and/or instant message (including Google Hangout) communications for work-from-home positions;
  • “Hire” employees to join DP World;
  • Provide the “employees” with funds to buy home-office equipment and pay DP World “vendors” via fraudulent checks and money orders; and
  • Instruct the “employees” via e-mail, text message, telephone, or instant message to deposit the checks into their personal bank accounts and wire or cash transfer some portion of the funds to “vendors,” which are actually the scammers.
DP World informs job applicants and the public that:
  • DP World is not expanding its operations in the United States in the next 3-6 months (as the scammers allege);
  • DP World’s operations in the United States are currently limited to Charlotte, North Carolina and are not expanding to any other locations for the foreseeable future;
  • DP World does not solicit potential employees via text message or instant messaging;
  • DP World does not interview employees by text message, e-mail, or instant messaging (including Google Hangouts);
  • DP World does not issue payment to its employees, prospective or otherwise, via paper check or money order;
  • DP World does not require employees to buy their own office equipment or personally pay vendors; and
  • The scammers have fraudulently used the name of DP World and its employees without authority and for malicious purposes.

One of the red flags that distinguishes a false communication from a legitimate DP World communication is the poor grammatical use of the English language, which is apparent in conversations with the scammers. Another red flag is the method of communication as DP World does not use commercially-available e-mail providers. No legitimate DP World communication would come from a common, publicly-available email service like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or Microsoft Outlook.

Further, false communications can also be identified by the tasks requested by the scammers. DP World does not request that its employees pay vendors personally, whether from their own funds or from funds provided by DP World. Likewise, DP World would never ask an employee to cash a check or money order and then make a deposit into a vendor’s account.

Contacted individuals should not respond to any communication regarding the scam, and under no circumstances should any individual deposit any checks, money orders, or other payments from the scammers into their bank accounts. If such funds are for some reason deposited, no payments should be made from those funds for at least seven (7) days after the funds are deposited to ensure the individual’s bank has accepted the check, money order, or other payment.
