About the Role

This position reports to Head of Brand & Marketing and the main purpose of the position is responsible for creating design solutions for DP World’s head office communications and marketing activities, both internally and externally, which have a high visual impact. The Designer would handle graphic design projects from creative brief, design concepts to final production, reporting to the Head of Brand and Marketing. Designs are required for a variety applications including marketing materials, websites, corporate presentations, social and digital media, advertising, mobile apps, exhibition displays, signage, all within the company’s brand guidelines. The Designer would work with corporate communications and all head office functions to handle design requirements. The role involves listening to colleagues and understanding their needs before making design decisions. The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines. The Designer will also support the Media Production & Internal Communications Manager in the production, post-production and editing of video projects.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Liaise with colleagues to determine their requirements, business objectives and budget

  • Manage colleague briefs from typesetting through to design, print and production

  • Working with colleagues briefing and advising them with regard to design style, format, print production and timescales

  • Work with a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD)

  • Takes key content from colleagues and adds graphics, colours, layout, and pictures.

  • Responsible for head office photography within time constraints; able to use in-house images or images from commercial or free libraries.

  • Manipulates, converts or adjusts complex images to achieve the desired effect, such as low/high-end retouching including colour balance, colour conversion, composite working, and image extension.

  • Works on layouts and art working pages ready for print or online usage

  • Proofreads to produce accurate and high-quality work;

  • Prepares rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief ready for use in printed or electronic format

  • Reviews final layouts and suggesting improvements if required

  • Liaising with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality

  • Provides draft output in suitable electronic format for review and approval

  • Edits raw video footage into professional packages, adding music, voiceover and graphics where appropriate, for internal or broadcast usage

  • Develops and monitors production schedules and budgets.

  • Assists in scheduling, delivery, and set-up of graphics products and equipment.

  • Manage outside consultants, partners and vendors as necessary if design work not able to be completed in-house (eg: large volumes)

  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design and editing programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver and Flash


Experience & Qualification

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Education degree in art

  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo/video-editing software

  • Exceptional creativity and innovation

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, multi-tasker, willing to take initiative

  • Social media savvy

  • Multimedia competency and work experience

  • Must be happy to be ‘in-house’

  • Good knowledge of design and editing software, such as InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
