About the Role

The Head Office Business Development department has a global responsibility particularly with respect to investment review, strategic portfolio management, project financing and other corporate initiatives.  There is a focus on the Africa, Middle East, and Asia Pacific. regions for the direct implementation of new project investments. 

 The focus of this role is to provide strong financial analysis to support projects being managed and reviewed by the team.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Support other members of the Business Development team in the Business Development process for new project investments and acquisitions. 
  2. Support other members of the BD team to complete the Business Development process through:

  3. Performing desktop market assessments
  4. Assist in conducting detailed due diligence on the country, market, competitive environment and financial issues.
  5. Prepare detailed financial models to project business performance and conduct sensitivity analyses in order to determine potential returns to DP World
  6. Liase with and manage other DP World departments and external consultants to gather and validate information to support investment decisions
  7. Review and analyze tender documentation, information memorandums, draft concession agreements, etc. and summarise key issues for senior BD team members
  8. Assist in the preparation of presentations for internal project approvals
  9. Assist in the preparation of handover files for the Regional Office responsible for the implementation of the new business unit
  10. Assist senior BD team members in managing the BD process (internally and externally) within the required timeframe
  11. Review investment proposals from the Regional Offices and summarise key issues for to Senior BD team members.
    • Ensure projects submitted are in line with corporate strategy and internal valuation requirements
    • Liaise with internal and external resources as necessary to verify information presented and ensure that commercial, operational and financial assumptions are reasonable
    • Consolidating information in a format which is appropriate for Senior Management review
    • Assist in the preparation of recommendation papers for Senior Management approval
    • Assist senior BD team members in managing the process within the required timeframe
  12. Support efforts to raise external finance for new business units.
    • Prepare and/or review financial models that are appropriate for external lenders in order to determine the optimum debt structure
    • Assist in the preparation of and/or review information memorandums for potential lenders
    • Support the business unit finance director in the process to satisfy all the conditions precedent to financial close
    • Prepare handover files for business unit finance director who will be responsible for the on-going administration of the loan facility 
  13. Continuously improve Business Development policies and procedures used at Head Office and Regional Offices
    • Valuation techniques and internal financial/strategic requirements
    • Financial modelling best practices
    • Investment case preparation and presentation
  14. Assist in other corporate-level initiatives as required, such as supporting the development of regional and corporate strategy
  15. Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s values and culture
  16. Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities.
  17. Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned 
Qualifications
  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree and
  • Professional qualification in accountancy or investment finance (such as CPA/CIMA/CFA/CMA/ACA/ACCA etc) and
  • 3-5 years’ experience / recently qualified in a finance role (accounting/audit, management accounting, investment banking, finance focussed management consultancy) for a blue chip corporate of professional services firm
  • Excellent Financial Modelling capabilities essential.
  • Preferably experience in the ports or infrastructure industry, though not essential
