London Gateway is a unique development that will combine the UK's newest deep-sea container port in London with Europe's largest logistics park. 

Purpose of the Role

The role of the Systems Business Analyst is to be a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of the Company, and to recommend system solutions that enable the organisation to achieve its goals.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

The key objectives are to Understand in detail the operational characteristics of the London Gateway Terminal and the Business Process Model and all its scenarios of the London Gateway Terminal.  To take responsibility for the QA/Testing function in Testing, Integration, Commissioning and Optimisation and to prepare the organisation for new or changed functionality;

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with all London Gateway departments translating business requirements into operational system solutions.

  • The interpretation and analysis of business rules and requirements for technical systems;

  • To design, test and implement required systems functionally enabling the terminal to operate according the operational performance.

  • Maintaining the Business Process Model and all its scenarios (Daily Tasks);

  • Based on the Business Process Scenario’s, build the relevant test bed.

  • Ensure extensive system testing prior to production;

  • Assisting in setting up operational procedures and training manuals.

  • To provide training to supervisors and key users to play an important role during testing and commissioning;

  • To provide training to the first line support staff and operations users.

  • Minimize customisation for systems during the Orientation and Analysis sessions with system suppliers.

The above outlined responsibilities are not exhaustive and you may be required to carry out other tasks that are appropriate to your role in addition to these.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Computer science degree or other relevant degree within the IT function – BA/BS,

  • Demonstrable practical experience working with the IFS system.

  • Experience writing detailed requirement and functional specifications for complex business applications.

  • A proven track record of successful project implementation of the IFS system in all IFS modules – Finance would be advantageous

  • Good knowledge of the IT environment;

  • Experience with Business Process Modeling;

  • Ability to take on any operational requirements, turn them into business processes;

  • Able to devise IT test plans and implement them including training users;

  • Be able to work within a team, especially as needed to meet challenging deadlines;

  • Work effectively under pressure;

  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with operations and systems staff;

  • Be able to use initiative and act independently;

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills;

  • Possess understanding in the areas of application customisation, database and system design;

  • Use reporting tools (Crystal Reports)
