About the Role

Implementation of DP World GHSE strategy and standards within DPW Consolidated Group (World Security, P&O Maritime, JAFZA & World Cranes Services) by identifying risk profile, risk control, action plans, mentoring coaching and leading HS&E managers as set by Director, GHS&E, through the execution of group safety programs / risk profiles and ensuring compliance with the DP World’s philosophy of zero harm to our people & the environment.


This will include: Developing targeted strategies, cultural & behavioural change programs, technical & soft skill enhancements for DPW Group HS&E staff, risk management & policies, standards in the areas of health, safety & environment; providing advice and being the primary focal point for Group HS&Es. It will also include requirements to conduct Due Diligence Audits and Assessments and oversea and verify reporting of key HS&E data which is released externally as part of DP World’s commitment to the Carbon Disclosure Project and Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Key Accountabilities

Common HS&E Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the strategic planning of safety & environmental goals and targets to be used within the Group.
  • Represent the Risk Reduction section, as the official DPW representative, at conferences and events as necessary.
  • Lead the investigation of fatalities and major incidents; as the lead investigator and responsible for communication of findings throughout the business
  • Mentor, advise & provide assistance to group based HS&E managers in the practical application of their responsibilities.
  • Manage continual safety & environmental improvement with DP World group companies through the development of programs, standards, training, and best practices.
  • Facilitate due diligence safety & environmental audits & assessment(s) against the minimum standards and provide guidance to increase overall compliance throughout the business.
  • Advise Business Development & Project Management departments, on HS&E requirements, in new acquisition(s) and group development projects.
  • Manage systems and practices that measure and consequently encourage continual improvement in safety & environmental performance at each of the operating locations globally.
  • Develop and monitor corrective action program(s) to mitigate identified high risk operations by determining the needed course of action, and working directly with group business unit(s) in the implementation of the risk reduction control,
  • Plan & manage budgets forprojects and systems creation / development & enhancements
  • Project Manage GHSE group programs & initiatives from conception to successful completion within time and on budget.
  • Liaise with Head Office and other group departments in support of joint initiatives & projects.
  • Liaise with the Learning and Development department & the learning institute in the design of safety & environmental training programs.
  • Provide support to team members during periods of absence and business travel, specifically as the primary point of contact for assigned imperative

Additional Specific Responsibilities:

  • Refining the Group HS&E risk profile strategy (risk control, action plans, mentoring coaching and leading HS&E managers) taking into account BU’s requirements for implementation,
  • Identification and control of BU’s high risk activities and processes,
  • Development and implementation of the BU’s HSE behavioural change program,
  • Mentoring and support of business unit HS&E staff,
  • Trending of BU’s performance to identify performance patterns and development of BU’s improvement action plans or projects,
  • Verifying the BUs compliance against the minimum global requirements,
  • Monitoring and measuring the implementation of the strategy,
  • Development and implementation of the group HSE cultural change program,
  • Identification and control of group high risk processes and projects and
  • Consolidation and reporting of HSE performance to both internal and external stakeholders.



  • Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and experience
  • Formal HSE qualification to Diploma / Degree level for example: NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and or NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management,
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ practical experience as an S&E manager,
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in heavy industrial environments,
  • Experience in the development and management of risk, corrective action plans and projects,
  • Excellent influencing skills demonstrated through verbal and written communication and
  • Excellent change management skills.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within the organization and lead / coach workgroups and individuals,
  • Excellent project management skills.
