About the Role

This position is responsible for contributing to the creation of the macro risk profile of DP World business units. Based on the findings of the macro risk profile this position will lead the facilitation of micro risk profile(s) for identified high risk business units and will then be responsible for developing and implementing the associated risk reduction programs.

A key underlying objective of this process will include the need for design and embedment of behavioural and change management initiatives. The risk reduction manager will be required to coach the local S&E team(s) to ensure that they are able to improve and sustain performance beyond the duration of this project. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the facilitation of the macro risk profile,
  • Lead the business unit specific micro risk profile,
  • Present and gain acceptance for the findings of the micro risk profile,
  • Develop a corrective action plan based on the findings of the risk profile,
  • Source, engage and lead any subject matter experts required for elements of the corrective action plan.
  • Practically lead the implementation of the corrective action plan,
  • Monitor and report on the risk reduction activities sustained through the implementation of the corrective action plan,
  • Design and embed behavioural and change management initiatives in the business unit and
  • Coach the business unit S&E team to ensure that they are able to improve and sustain performance beyond the duration of this project.
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager Standards, Systems & Governance and Head of Operational Safety to ensure efficient and proactive management of regional priorities and deficiencies in line with GHSE strategy


  • If direct reports - Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum Diploma NEBOSH qualification in safety,
  • Minimum of 15 years’ safety management experience in a heavy industrial environment,
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading a team of safety practitioners and
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in coaching teams to achieve results. 
  • Proven experience in leading incident / accident investigations including fatalities,
  • Proven facilitator of training programs
  • Experience in the development and management of corrective action projects and delivery of incident investigation training
  • Experience in liaising with government, regulatory, industry and labour organisations
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within the organisation and lead / mentor workgroups and individuals
  • Ability to recognise issues, analyse, formulate and implement appropriate solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, computer literacy, report writing and administrative skills
  • Ability to identify, assess and control safety and environmental risks related to the business
  • Ability to negotiate & minimise conflict where required to ensure compliance to all health, safety & environmental requirements

Dubai, UAE :DP World, Ltd. (DP World) alerts job applicants and the public about a fraudulent scheme in which DP World has been impersonated.

The scammers fraudulently:
  • Impersonate DP World;
  • Impersonate DP World employees;
  • Conduct “job interviews” via text message, telephone, e-mail, and/or instant message (including Google Hangout) communications for work-from-home positions;
  • “Hire” employees to join DP World;
  • Provide the “employees” with funds to buy home-office equipment and pay DP World “vendors” via fraudulent checks and money orders; and
  • Instruct the “employees” via e-mail, text message, telephone, or instant message to deposit the checks into their personal bank accounts and wire or cash transfer some portion of the funds to “vendors,” which are actually the scammers.
DP World informs job applicants and the public that:
  • DP World is not expanding its operations in the United States in the next 3-6 months (as the scammers allege);
  • DP World’s operations in the United States are currently limited to Charlotte, North Carolina and are not expanding to any other locations for the foreseeable future;
  • DP World does not solicit potential employees via text message or instant messaging;
  • DP World does not interview employees by text message, e-mail, or instant messaging (including Google Hangouts);
  • DP World does not issue payment to its employees, prospective or otherwise, via paper check or money order;
  • DP World does not require employees to buy their own office equipment or personally pay vendors; and
  • The scammers have fraudulently used the name of DP World and its employees without authority and for malicious purposes.

One of the red flags that distinguishes a false communication from a legitimate DP World communication is the poor grammatical use of the English language, which is apparent in conversations with the scammers. Another red flag is the method of communication as DP World does not use commercially-available e-mail providers. No legitimate DP World communication would come from a common, publicly-available email service like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or Microsoft Outlook.

Further, false communications can also be identified by the tasks requested by the scammers. DP World does not request that its employees pay vendors personally, whether from their own funds or from funds provided by DP World. Likewise, DP World would never ask an employee to cash a check or money order and then make a deposit into a vendor’s account.

Contacted individuals should not respond to any communication regarding the scam, and under no circumstances should any individual deposit any checks, money orders, or other payments from the scammers into their bank accounts. If such funds are for some reason deposited, no payments should be made from those funds for at least seven (7) days after the funds are deposited to ensure the individual’s bank has accepted the check, money order, or other payment.
