Job Summary

Reporting to the VP/Director of TPS, the appointee will be responsible for addressing operational issues, and providing direction and leadership of the day to day performance of the operator services.  

This includes accountability for the performance of operations planning, logistics, customer services, gate, yard, stowage planning, stevedoring, operations administration as well as enhancing the safety standards and culture of the terminal, with the utmost importance given to minimize the accident rate while improving service level. 

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the operating functions to ensure the operational capacity of the container terminals are meeting the performance benchmarks of DP World and the SHs, as well as, run the terminals in the most cost effective and efficient manner
  • Develop and maintain a sound operation plan, establish the organization structure for the operation functions, manpower plan, training and outsourcing strategy to ensure the optimization of productivity and resource deployment in respect of customer throughput
  • Establish goals and performance criteria for departments against operating plan and standards, as well as measure performance on a regular basis; present periodic reports on performance to VP/ Director and key management team
  • Develop, review and approve budgets, plans and goals for the related operating services, budget spending, labor efficiency, facility engineering effectiveness of capital spending and human utilization
  • Ensure safety of the operations environment, establish and implement safety policy, procedures and plan in compliance with legal requirement of the location and the company standard of DP World, review and enhance the safety standard to improve the working environment for employees and contractors, and minimize the accident rate within the premises by creating safety culture/awareness within the team
  • Represent the Company in its relationships with customers, suppliers, competitors, commercial and government agencies, maintain good relationship with customer, partners and government officers, and focus on satisfying customers’ requirements to generate maximum profit
  • Degree or above qualifications 
  • At least 8-10 years in operations management position of terminal operations with substantial experience in operational safety management
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective team building skills
  • Good multi-cultural communication skills, with experience in working in Asia or in different cultural and business environments is preferable
