About the Role

Reporting directly to the COO, the SVP Commercial & Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of DP World’s overarching commercial and customer interface strategy to drive business performance, growth and market share. The role is focused on ensuring the integrated commercial success of DP World and ensuring that all relevant functions of the organisation are aligned to meet the strategic commercial objectives.

The SVP Commercial & Marketing provides input and evaluates cross-functional decisions that will enable DP World to achieve its value proposition to the customer and the company’s long-term objectives.

The SVP Commercial & Marketing collaborates with Senior and Executive Management to ensure overall value is realised and optimised across all sectors and divisions of the business.

The SVP Commercial & Marketing is expected to provide strong leadership and work closely with DPW Regions and other corporate functions, but also act as a coach to the global commercial organisation.

All with the objective of ensuring that all functions are aligned to deliver the Group’s strategic objectives, in line with the Founder’s Principles. 

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide high level of customer relations and services ensuring compliance with DP World’s strategy, values, policies and procedures
  • Direct company’s commercial activities to meet budget and other financial goals
  • Direct short-term and long-range commercial planning and budget development to support strategic business goals
  • Responsible for the execution of the commercial strategy, product and service development, and continuous improvement
  • Establish and implement action plans for current and long range commercial objectives
  • Establish aligned and coordinated regional commercial performance goals; allocate resources
  • Participate in acquisition and growth activities to support overall DP World Group business objectives and plans
  • Develop, establish and direct execution of commercial policies to support overall company policies and objectives
  • Provide input to the company’s business strategy
  • Serve as the predominant authority in defining commercial strategic plans
  • Play leading role in the negotiation and finalisation of agreements with global customers; provide negotiation guidelines and ensure that Commercial goals & objectives are met.
  • Measure and monitor performance against critical criteria, policy and guidelines established by DP World
  • Act as a top level contact for our customers, engaging the organisation as need be to deliver the committed service to customers
  • Develop plans for new revenue growth, improving current processes, providing innovative thinking
  • Establish and maintain close links with DP World Group functions, regions and stakeholders.
  • Maintain, develop and share with relevant internal stakeholders, market leading group commercial strategy knowledge base and analytics, capturing and integrating regional strategies, competitive position, risk areas and results
  • Accountable for leading an engaged team, providing direction and promoting collaboration while ensuring they are enabled to carry out the goals and objectives of the business
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Founder’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications & Experience

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of Bachelor level Degree, Masters level preferred in business, marketing or related area
  • At least 15 years’ experience with 5 in an executive level position, such as General Manager or Vice President
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Solid and proven working knowledge of budgeting, sales, account management, business development and strategic planning
  • Experience in multi country Supply Chain/Logistics Services and preferably 3rd Party Logistics at a senior executive level (including areas such as warehousing, intermodal rail, road and barge services, multi country consolidation, freight forwarding, river barging, online logistics services and air, land and sea transportation)
  • Extensive experience in liner shipping industry, including demonstrated industry-wide senior level relationship network that will facilitate broader, deeper and effective liner customer engagement.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external stakeholders
  • Experience in Port Management and/or Port Business Development.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in strategy development
