About the Role

The central challenge for the Senior Manager Regulatory Affairs Africa is to support DP World’s business success by providing strategic Regulatory and Government Affairs advice to the business, creating and delivering optimal business value and distinguishing DP World from competitors in the view of governments. ER/Regulatory Affairs provides this by understanding and influencing government needs and policies and by ensuring that the company’s geographical perspective is balanced against business and functional strategies in line with the overall objectives of the Group. In addition, ER/Regulatory Affairs monitors, identifies, and influences the operating environment as affected by statutory, legislative and regulatory governmental actions, whether local, regional or federal, that may affect DP World operations. Approaches which are currently tactical, reactive and fragmented across the region must become more strategic, pro-active and consistent. Activities will cover the full spectrum of Regulatory Affairs.

  • Develop a robust regional strategy to manage government stakeholders, including identification, engagement planning and relationship management
  • Anticipate/monitor policy change and interpret political drivers. Identify business threats and opportunities arising from statutory, legislative or other regulatory governmental action, including mitigation activities.
  • Support business leaders and other ER/Regulatory Affairs colleagues in their engagements with decision-makers.
  • Devise and implement advocacy plans (setting out desired policy outcomes in support of business goals, developing position papers, running engagement programs, etc.) in cooperation with the businesses, functions and in-country resources.
  • Leverage the informal and formal workings of government, embassies and associations to support the delivery of DP World business objectives.
  • Ensure coordination and maximise synergies among ER/Regulatory Affairs, other Non-Technical Risk functions, and the relevant Businesses.
  • Share ER/Regulatory Affairs best practices with business representatives as well as actively developing local resources in-country where practical.
  • Ensure absolute compliance with applicable government ABC, transparency and ethical standards as well as with DP World Group rules and policies.
