In 2009, DP World handled more than 43.4 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) across its portfolio from the Americas to Asia. With a pipeline of expansion and development projects in key growth markets, including India, China and the Middle East, capacity is expected to rise to around 92 million TEU by 2020, in line with market demand.

About the Role:

This position reports to Senior Vice President - Corporate Communications and the main purpose of the role is to develop and oversee the strategy and direction of DP World's use of current and future digital media with the aim of engaging with its audiences internally and externally in support of the company's business objectives. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the internet and intranet, including the DP World and P&O Heritage websites and the Connexions intranet. In developing the strategic direction for the company's use of digital media, the Manager explores innovative and creative digital vehicles, constantly searching for the most effective and efficient communications methods and functionality to reach
intended audiences globally. His/her primary focus is internal communication and he/she is a core member of the Intranet Steering Committee, establishing Intranet policy that ensures Connexions is a vital business and communication tool, creating a united, motivated and responsive company with a common culture that embodies our
brand integrity through continued commitment to our people, to customers, to quality services and to global growth. He/she also establishes a strategic direction and oversees the DP World website, working with regions and other content owners and with corporate communication colleagues to ensure the site meets business and communication objectives into the future, and is in line with industry best practice as an external communication tool. He/she also oversees and supports the ongoing development of the P&O Heritage Collection website, working with the curator and any vendors to enhance its functionality and commercial potential.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Setting an overarching short, medium and long term strategy and direction for DP World's use of digital media as a communication tool to realise business objectives, in close co-ordination with
    functional and regional heads.Establishing and implementing the Intranet's strategic direction and business objectives as a key member of the Intranet Steering Committee, including high level Intranet policies.
  • Providing ongoing support and further growth of Connexions and development of its functionality, in close liaison with Internal Corporate Communications Manager and IT.
  • Establishing and implementing dpworld.com's strategic direction and business objectives, providing ongoing support and further development of the website, in close association with content owners
    Brand and Corporate Marketing Manager and IT, ensuring the site is in line with industry best practice as an external communication tool.
  • Enhancing and developing the functionality and commercial potential of poheritage.com, working closely with the Heritage Collection team and IT.
  • Managing outside consultants, partners and vendors as necessary to ensure value for money and any business continuity risks minimised.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Understands and adheres to DP World's Code of Conduct Policy
  • Ensures that their direct reports are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
Experience and Qualifications:

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

  • At least 6 - 8 years as a senior IT manager.
  • A passion for and extensive experience and expertise in developing, maintaining and supporting digital media channels.
  • Detailed understanding of website design and functionality.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and plan effectively in the short, medium and long term.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • A tertiary qualification in IT essential; intermediate to senior experience in corporate communications
    preferred.

DP WORLD IMPERSONATED IN A RECRUITING SCAM

Dubai, UAE :DP World, Ltd. (DP World) alerts job applicants and the public about a fraudulent scheme in which DP World has been impersonated.

The scammers fraudulently:
  • Impersonate DP World;
  • Impersonate DP World employees;
  • Conduct “job interviews” via text message, telephone, e-mail, and/or instant message (including Google Hangout) communications for work-from-home positions;
  • “Hire” employees to join DP World;
  • Provide the “employees” with funds to buy home-office equipment and pay DP World “vendors” via fraudulent checks and money orders; and
  • Instruct the “employees” via e-mail, text message, telephone, or instant message to deposit the checks into their personal bank accounts and wire or cash transfer some portion of the funds to “vendors,” which are actually the scammers.
DP World informs job applicants and the public that:
  • DP World is not expanding its operations in the United States in the next 3-6 months (as the scammers allege);
  • DP World’s operations in the United States are currently limited to Charlotte, North Carolina and are not expanding to any other locations for the foreseeable future;
  • DP World does not solicit potential employees via text message or instant messaging;
  • DP World does not interview employees by text message, e-mail, or instant messaging (including Google Hangouts);
  • DP World does not issue payment to its employees, prospective or otherwise, via paper check or money order;
  • DP World does not require employees to buy their own office equipment or personally pay vendors; and
  • The scammers have fraudulently used the name of DP World and its employees without authority and for malicious purposes.

One of the red flags that distinguishes a false communication from a legitimate DP World communication is the poor grammatical use of the English language, which is apparent in conversations with the scammers. Another red flag is the method of communication as DP World does not use commercially-available e-mail providers. No legitimate DP World communication would come from a common, publicly-available email service like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail or Microsoft Outlook.

Further, false communications can also be identified by the tasks requested by the scammers. DP World does not request that its employees pay vendors personally, whether from their own funds or from funds provided by DP World. Likewise, DP World would never ask an employee to cash a check or money order and then make a deposit into a vendor’s account.

Contacted individuals should not respond to any communication regarding the scam, and under no circumstances should any individual deposit any checks, money orders, or other payments from the scammers into their bank accounts. If such funds are for some reason deposited, no payments should be made from those funds for at least seven (7) days after the funds are deposited to ensure the individual’s bank has accepted the check, money order, or other payment.
