DP World Adelaide Pty Ltd, located at Outer Harbor, is the sole serving Container Terminal in South Australia. With an annual throughput exceeding 280,000 TEU's, the operation continues to expand and we require a number of Casual Stevedores.

About The Role:

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager Adelaide, this key role is responsible for ensuring efficient vessel and terminal operations by best utilization of labour and resources to promote high productivity rate, while ensuring a safe work environment.

Key accountabilities will include:

Ensure vehicle booking system and truck processing/turn times are operating within expected parameters.

  • Ensure vessels are positioned alongside to enable portainer crane coverage of all working bays.
  • Implement new efficiencies in ‘yard planning' via process improvements.
  • Implement changes in procedures for loading and discharging on road/rail/vessel.(cycling/relay/other)
  • Introduce other initiatives to enhance productivity (road/rail/ship).
  • Recommend to Operations Superintendent, Vessel Agents or Duty Manager vessel ETDs and update as required.
  • Ensure when working vessels, OH&S processes are followed and non-conformances addressed.
  • Communicate to vessel sequence of discharging/loading immediately upon arrival or as soon as practicable thereafter.
  • In conjunction with Superintendents advise National Planning Centre on safety and other productivity issues.
  • Communicate security issues relating to the ship/terminal interface and control access arrangements into the terminal.
  • Allocate and adjust labour as deemed fit for the operation.
  • Follow up on performance issues and action as required.
  • Ensure equipment is allocated in the most efficient and productive manner possible during operations.

Experience & Qualifications:

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications specialising in Logistics / Transport / Distribution / Maritime or related disciplines or studying towards the completion of these disciplines highly preferred.
  • Leadership skills including; the ability to manage change, influence, develop, engage & others as to deliver superior team performance.
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team as well as the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Communication including oral, written and interpersonal and the ability to interact with all levels including internal, external clients and stakeholders.
  • Prioritisation and organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to identify and eliminate safety hazards & risks in the workplace.
  • This position will operate on a 24 hour basis to provide a high level of supervision and coordination, it is an essential requirement you have previous shift or irregular work pattern experience.
  • You will be required to work 12 hour shifts (Day & Night, Mon to Sun) on a regular rotational roster.
