The Director, Information Technology provides strategic leadership and management of Information Technology for DP World’s Canadian Operations, ensuring that the organization develops assets and capabilities needed to survive and thrive in the mid-term and long-term.

  • Fosters and encourages a team environment with the necessary depth of commitment to respond to dynamic and often unpredictable deadlines and priorities.
  • Maintains a strong service orientation by ensuring open and effective two-way communication exists between the IT department and all other areas of the organization.
  • Leads the development of the IT strategy and road map in collaboration with the business units, and ensures its integration with DP Canada’s strategic plans, and the resulting business unit strategies and plans.
  • Designs and maintains a governance framework that allows the IT team to balance service requests in a cost effective manner, ensuring adherence to IT policies, standards and methodologies.
  • Provides thought leadership on emerging models and technologies and advises on future industry trends and opportunities that will impact technology decisions.
  • Manages the operating budget for the team and the capital budget for approved projects.

  • Strong general management skills including the ability to motivate, make decisions collaboratively and solve problems creatively.
  • Outstanding oral and written communicator. Has the ability to lead by example and can easily impart knowledge to others. Superior interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of continual skill development (personally and with team members) and a keen willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • Ability to work with the business to accurately define needs and understand what is required to move ahead. Skilled at gaining clear insights into stakeholders’ expectations and aligning requirements.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project initiatives in various stages of their life cycles while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships
  • Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Founder’s Principles.
  • Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities.
  • Provide effective leadership and participation in the management of the HSEMS through visible leadership.
  • Provide commitment to a culture that aligns the organization’s mission and the performance of management practices.
  • Ensure operations comply with both the law and the HSEMS.
  • Regularly hold management meetings to review the effectiveness of the HSEMS.
  • Provide a system to ensure employees and contractors are made aware of the HSEMS expectations and clear understanding of the consequences of inappropriate conduct.
  • Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

At least fifteen years of IT management experience, combined with five or more years of progressive experience leading cross functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts


  • An undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with preference for a post-graduate degree.
A Project Manager Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent is an asset.
