About the Role

 

The IT Manager ensures that all IT related aspects of the business are implemented according to the BU’s vision, corporate guidelines and policies. He/she will assist DP World Dakar Management team in planning and implementing company information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations and to achieve more cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT Operations.

The IT Manager will lead the security awareness programs to make employees aware of the importance of information security, its significance, and the specific security-related requirements relative to their position; the importance of confidentiality, proprietary and private information.

Key Accountabilities

 

Enterprise-wide Planning

  • Participates as an integral member in the strategic planning process of the company;

  • Develops, coordinates, guides and maintains IT systems strategic and operational plans in support of the overall company mission and business strategy;

  • Develops and maintains an enterprise systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, software, and interconnectivity of network information systems.;

  • Leadership 

  • Provides advice on evaluation, selection, implementation and maintenance of information systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems;

  • Negotiates all IT contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of other management team members as appropriate;

  • Provides responsive advice, counsel, education and service to the company concerning IT issues and trends in the IT industry;

  • Communicates IT plans, policies and technology trends throughout the organization, including management groups and professional staff;

  • Determines pertinent information required by management in making effective decisions. Ensures that the gathering, processing, distribution and use of this information occurs in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner through on-going review and education programs at executive, management and user levels;

  • Promotes and oversees relationships between the company’s IT resources and external entities (e.g., government, vendors, researchers, auditors, and other organizations);

Management and Oversight

  • Approves, coordinates, and controls all projects related to selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems for the company;

  • Develops and maintains an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of operating entities through appropriate information technology;

  • Develops and maintains corporate IT policies and standards relating to the acquisition, implementation, and operation of information technology and communication systems;

  • Negotiates IT service level agreements with user organizations and monitors IT systems performance to assure service levels are being met;

  • Researches and evaluates alternatives for the enhancement or re-engineering of IT systems. 

  • Provides quality service to end users in needs analysis, solution recommendation, vendor selection, implementation, training, and post installation support;

  • Ensures that enterprise information systems operate according to internal standards, external regulatory standards, and legal requirements;

  • Develops and enforces policy and procedures to ensure the protection of enterprise IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of information maintained by the enterprise.

  • Develops and maintains an enterprise-wide business recovery plan to ensure timely and effective restoration of IT services in the event of a disaster;

  • Ensure safe working conditions for staff, contractors, and visitors by taking all the necessary actions and precautions measures to ensure zero incident/ accident of unsafe behavior in the immediate work are;

Human Resources Management 

  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, motivation and retention of assigned staff conforming to budgetary objectives and personnel policies;

  • Ensures appropriate training programs for the organization are in place to attract, retain and develop the key personnel required to support information services;

 

Financial Management

  • Develops and maintains the annual operating and capital budgets for company information and technology systems operations consistent with programmatic plans and established financial guidelines;

  • Develops and maintains corporate policies and standards aimed at minimizing costs related to the acquisition, implementation and operation of IT systems;

  • Maintains contact with IT suppliers and maintains knowledge of current technology, equipment, prices and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels.  Evaluates alternatives, performs appropriate cost benefit analysis, and recommends solutions that minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks;

  • Reviews company hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts;

  • Comply with Fatal Risk Standards, Health & Safety Policy and safe working practices, ensure responsibility for safety and discipline in work area and report accidents and ‘near misses’ in accordance with defined safety procedures.

  • Integrate HSSE objectives into the maintenance goals,

  • Implement HSSE action plans for the entity,

  • Enforce HSSE instructions, procedures, and instructions by personnel under his/her control,

  • Make draft, approve and control compliance with HSSE operational procedures and instructions in the section and shift,

  • Pilot or participate in reporting and analysis of incidents if necessary.

Qualifications

 

Master’s in computer science, IT or equivalent

Experiences & Skills

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the field and preferably 15 years
  • Experience/Trained in: IP protocol, firewall configuration, router and switch configuration. Trouble shooting of all these products using suitable tools

  • Experience and maturity for IT infrastructure management  

  • Be able to manage a high availability (24*7) environment in Windows and/or Linux
  • Solid persuasion and commercial negotiation skills with the ability to maintain strategic relationship
  • Familiar with the use of Virtualization to get the best utilization from equipment;
  • Ability to develop a budget, maintain and track corresponding purchases
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of new products on the market

  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
