About the Role

Responsible for the review and upload of the Maritime Transport and Maritime Service segments and associated entities. In addition, support the finance team in day to day reporting activities such as preparation of monthly consolidation financials as well as responsible for maintaining books of accounts related to PFZW Head Office.

Key Accountabilities
  • Directly responsible for the review and upload of the Maritime Transport and Maritime Service segments and associated entities – Mainly, Ferries, Unifeeder and Topaz.
  • Directly responsible for preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements on IFRS basis.
  • Responsible for Oracle ledger closing on a monthly basis and Hyperion Enterprise for P&O sub-consolidation, as well as Group Consolidation.
  • Oracle/Hyperion Support to the head office team, various locations and closely working with Oracle Team in Hong Kong and Hyperion consultants in Dubai.
  • Responsible for maintaining Chart of Accounts for the DPW Group.
  • Resolve IFRS related queries from locations.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc report requests from Dubai World / Government Auditors.
  • Preparation of IFRS based Budget including Balance Sheet, Income Statement & Cash flow for PFZW HO.
  • Responsible for various financial analysis for the Group.
  • Carry out Equity and Minority Interest holding percentage checks on a monthly basis for the entire Group. 
  • Assist Treasury and Tax relating to IFRS reporting and reconciliations.
  • Assist Investor Relationship Team in reviewing and updating any of the financial data for their reporting.
  • Design and development of appropriate excel financial templates that link with Hyperion ensuring all the correct required fields are included to gather data from business units.
  • Dealing with multi currencies, non-controlling interest transactions, intra-group transactions and balances, and various corporate transactions as they arise.
  • Proactively investigate/manage transactions along with local, regional finance to ensure compliance with Group policies, IFRS and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous business improvement process and to the meeting of the business objectives.
  • Ensure inter-company balances are eliminated in Hyperion, including dividends, management fees, loans and interest, intra-group investments etc.
  • Maintain contacts distribution lists for all Group subsidiaries, holding companies, joint ventures and associates (email, telephone numbers for local finance teams) and be the single point of contact for reporting of these entities for the purpose of Group consolidation.
  • Prepare and update half-yearly and annual reporting packs for submission by business units for the reporting of accurate information.
  • Where extraordinary accounting issues arise out of Group entities review, ensure these issues are fully understood, correctly addressed in Hyperion in agreement with auditors.
  • Deal with local finance teams to ensure accounting issues are resolved to the satisfaction of group finance team and auditors.
  • Applicable if role has direct reports - responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • Chartered Accountant / Certified Public Accountant is a must


  • At least 8-10 years of post-qualification experience
  • 2 years of audit experience, preferably in a Big 4 audit firm.
  • 3 years of financial reporting experience in global/ multinational organisation involving global consolidation of accounting function.


  • Up-to-date knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Working knowledge of ERP Systems such as SAP/Oracle Financials is a must.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and Office
  • A self-starter with a professional attitude and a desire to take responsibility to see all tasks through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical financial users and assist in troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
