JOB PURPOSE

The Crane Manager role is to achieve the highest possible readiness by optimum utilization of Engineering resources safely.

He/She will offer a complete and extensive support to the Engineering Manager and the role is based in Algiers, Algeria.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Meeting maintenance and repair scheduled deadlines to keep equipment availability at highest levels.
  • Ensure safe working conditions are kept all the time
  • Controlling expenses and inventories to an acceptable level.
  • Measuring KPI’s  to be adapting with engineering department targets
  • Efficient utilization of labor and resources.
  • Apply Engineering Manager’s instructions and decisions.
  • Control and co-ordinate scheduled maintenance activities (PM,CM,WR), to meet operational requirements.
  • Provide effective organization, efficient utilization and control of all cranes section Staff during a designated shift period in order to meet planned objectives.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Senior Supervisors, Work Shop Manager, Planning Coordinator & Engineering Store Controller to achieve the Engineering Department targets.
  • Ensure that recognized safe working practices are utilized for all cranes Staff and maintain effective implementation of the DCT safety policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with Operation department staff to maximize equipment availability and effectiveness.
  • Follow up the maintenance and repair plan for executing mechanical and electrical work on cranes, Review and closing open WO in CMMS.
  • Control the assignment of his Staff to achieve the optimum efficiency.
  • In case of accidents, he is obliged to survey with the Shift Seniors, and report-with photos whenever required. If it is serious accident, he has to contact the Engineering Manager to get any additional support or instructions.
  •  In call 24 hours and attend to the terminal work during emergencies –at any time- whenever necessary according to work requirement.
  • To prepare the regular and necessary reports to the Engineering Manager.
  • To fulfill the recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Assist in putting budget and control expenses.
  • Analyze Equipment faults, problems to suggest proper solutions to finalize all open issues.
  • Follow up the cranes pending list material with stores and purchasing staff to be sure the spare parts were available in our store when need it.
  • Responsible  of receiving new cranes and handed over to operation.
  • Study and propose the best way to train, upgrade the Staff skills to achieve better job norms.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

University degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering

10 years of experience with minimum 3 years in managerial position

Min 5 years of work experience in Marine terminals

SKILLS
  • Good leadership skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, anticipates potential problems and diagnoses, evaluate and resolve logistical problems as they happen in order to meet Terminal objectives and deadlines

  • Planning skills and ability to decide job priorities to meet the Engineering Department and Terminal policies

  • Has the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues and Terminal Staff to achieve the Department goal in keeping the Equipment and Assets at the highest possible readiness with its optimum efficiency

  • Fluency in English and Arabic or French  - Spoken and written

  • Control required cranes modification & enhancement for better performance

  • Able to properly train to staff whenever required for upgrading their skills.
