The job is a key position in the Americas regional office encompassing the critical functional area of operations and engineering. The position leads the regional operations efforts in one of the company’s fastest growing regions.


The successful candidate will:

  1. Lead and provide strategic direction on achievement of operational excellence and performance standards for all businesses in the region operating terminals in multiple countries maximizing customer service and cost optimization through sustaining optimum levels of productivity and efficiency.
  2. Lead and provide strategic direction on achievement of goals for Equipment M&R and Engineering planning.
  3. Lead the regional Operations and Engineering teams in imbedding safety into workplace processes.


  • Conduct and maintain continuous process improvement culture in all terminals.
  • Works with close coordination with Terminal CEO’s & OPS Directors and with all stakeholders in the development of Terminal’s operational and maintenance budgets and budget forecasts.
  • Support the evaluation, planning, specification and training requirements for new terminal development.
  • Review and approve all capital spending in AMR related to new investment in infrastructure or equipment with a view to optimizing capital spending.
  • Monitor operational performance at each BU on a weekly basis to identify performance gaps early in lifecycle and provide guidance to implement early corrections.
  • Support assessment, decision and implementation on TOS deployment in AMR.
  • Work with the regional commercial team to ensure customer relationships are maintained with all current and potential customers.
  • Work with the regional commercial director to ensure OPS and Commercial synergies that leverage and enhance and sustain value, and consistently deliver volume and unit revenue plans above budget.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to achieve and sustain operating productivity levels in all BUs in excess of 30 GMPH at best cost efficiency for the company while limiting annual unit cost increase to less than local inflation increases.

  • 15+ years of diverse port operations experience with demonstrated knowledge of all port operations functions and ability to create value through innovative continuous process improvement
  • Proven leadership optimizing business value and engaging with key stakeholders including customers preferably from a GM or Senior OPS Director position
  • Effective strategic engagement with customers at a senior decision making level resolving issues, negotiating contracts and developing new business opportunities.
  • Have a proven track record of providing insight and guidance to safety, environment and security strategic plans as a visible leader; delivering a continuous fatality free workplace and striving to implement a zero harm working environment with a clear focus on delivering and managing lead safety indicators.
  • Be able to demonstrate an exceptional work history of working with multi internal and external stake holders. 
  • Must of held a senior leadership position at terminal and (or) regional level.   


MBA / business degree preferred, or similar qualification.
